Welcome Back Letter from Todd Sesker

Mission Statement

Faribault Public Schools strives to empower, engage,

and energize all students through its commitment to a

quality education and creating an effective

learning environment.

Welcome Back!

We are looking forward to the return of students and staff for a successful 2017-2018 school year!

This year we are implementing a new middle school schedule and a new 9th grade academy for students.  Both programs have been well researched and approved by the School Board.

The Middle School schedule is emphasizing relationship building and citizenship, while maintaining solid academic programs.  Students and parents will have a chance to make more choices and have an opportunity one time per week to either catch up on classwork or work ahead on academic subjects.  Also, first hour is reserved for advisory, which we are hopeful will build better relationships with staff, students, and parents.

The 9th grade academy will offer more individual help with 9th graders struggling with academics and attendance.  We have hired staff specifically that will build relationships with these students and parents in order to prevent kids from failing.  The program targets students that need extra help and builds on a program that centers around positive relationships.

This past year the district discussed our facility needs and what we can do to improve our facilities.  In fact, the School Board adopted the following 4 goals:

Goal 1: Create the best facilities to enhance student success and community engagement.

Goal 2: Prepare all students to be successful by expanding programs and enhancing pathways toward graduation.

Goal 3: Develop PreK-5 options that will enhance student success through STEAM, language immersion and/or year-round school.

Goal 4: Promote Falcon pride by creating a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment where all students and staff are welcome, respected and supportive of each other.

This fall, community members will vote on a bond issue that will address goal #1.  Approval by the School Board only occurred after 1 ½ years of research and the involvement of many community members and school staff.  We are excited to tell you more about this ‘cool’ project for our district.  The project will actually touch on all four goals that have been approved by the School Board.  Thank you to all of those that helped with this process!

We continue to offer great programs for kids.  This community has been incredibly supportive of our public schools.  We have a strong School Board that represents our students very well.   Richard Olson, Thomas Casper, John Currie, Chad Wolff, Andrea Vogelsberg, Yvette Marthaler and Jason Engbrecht have helped create a financially stable and academically rigorous educational system for our school district community.  This is a high functioning School Board that is meeting the educational challenges of today’s world.

It is great to be a Falcon…..
