The summer is coming to a close and we are all busy preparing for the 2016-2017 school year. Summer staff are really working hard to make sure we are ready for the start of school (Tuesday, September 6th, 2016). We are looking forward to the return of students, staff and another successful year!
We will be in our second year of implementing the FLITE (Faribault Learning by Integrating Technology Everywhere) plan, the Newcomer centers, and ADSIS (Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instruction). These exciting new programs have made a positive and direct impact for students and staff in our district this past year. We are looking forward to the success we are experiencing with these teacher driven programs this year and in the years to come.
Construction for the Faribault Education Center (FEC) and the District Office (DO) and Conference Center are complete. Both buildings look great. We are officially moved into our new homes.
The FEC houses our adult learning programs. Yesica Louis and her staff have done a great job enhancing and promoting Adult Education in our community. Beckie Lippert runs the adults with disabilities and Project ABLE programs. Enrollment has increased for both Adult Education and ABLE. Both programs continue to get better and better each year.
The DO and Conference Center houses our district office folks, which includes Human Resources, led by Nicole Yochum, Teaching and Learning led by Colleen Cardenuto, Finance, led by Colleen Mertesdorf (and after September 1, our new Finance Director, Andi Johnson), Community Education, led by Anne Marie Leland, Special Education, led by Robert Dehnert and yours truly, Superintendent Todd Sesker. The new addition will also have meeting spaces for up to 75 people. This will be used for school staff training, board meetings, classrooms as well as any outside groups that may need a place to meet.
We continue to offer great programs for kids. This community has been incredibly supportive of our public schools. We have a strong school board that represents our students very well. Richard Olson, Thomas Casper, Jerry Robicheau, Chad Wolff, Andrea Vogelsberg, Yvette Marthaler and Jason Engbrecht have helped create a financially stable and academically rigorous educational system for our school district community. This is a high functioning school board that is meeting the educational challenges of today’s world.
It is great to be a Falcon…..
