Over the course of a year, Faribault Public Schools have been studying its facilities to identify and prioritize issues and find cost effective ways to address these needs, which include school security, safety systems, and ADA accessibility upgrades, activities and athletics space, and adequate space to meet changing educational demands.

Faribault Public Schools began analyzing the District’s facility needs through the Ad Hoc Facility Committee in summer 2016 and continued these studies through the development of the Community Task Force on Facilities. The Community Task Force on Facilities, comprised of a wide variety of stakeholders, was formed by the School Board to study Faribault Public Schools’ facilities and develop a long-range comprehensive Facilities Master Plan for recommendation to the School Board. The Community Task Force on Facilities met 8 times between January and May 2017 to review information regarding the District’s facilities and programming needs including:

• Capacity and Enrollment

• Safety and Security

• Public School Funding

• Activities and Athletics Needs

• Facility Analysis and Maintenance Needs

• Trends in Education

• District Goals and Vision

As a result of the Community Task Force on Facilities’ work, the school board unanimously approved asking the voters to approve a building bond and operating levy request on November 7, 2017.
